Essentially, people look at money,
In a highly polarized perspective.
Either they extol its virtues,
Or heap the choicest invective.
One group believes that money
Can buy you anything and everything.
Other group says it's highly overrated.
It has nothing to do with quality living.
Well both are right and both are wrong.
Probably, they are more wrong than they are right.
When these two much touted theories don't work,
You need an other one to throw more light.
So, let's take a typical example,
And put it to a simple test.
Find out which theory loses out,
And which one emerges as the best.
The romantics offer this scenario.
To watch a glorious sunrise, you don't need to be rich.
After all, it's free and it cannot be bought.
But this idealistic viewpoint, has one little hitch.
The down-to-earth base their argument on economy.
Any toy you want to get your hands on, requires cash.
To them, hoarding enough money is the right solution.
But this line of reasoning too, is pretty easy to bash.
Well both are right and both are wrong.
Probably, they are more wrong than they are right.
When these two much touted theories don't work,
You need an other one to throw more light.
When you make time to do things you like,
You probably are not hoarding those big bucks.
When you drown yourself at work for long,
You are not doing stuff which really gives you the kicks.
Money, by itself, is nothing but paper.
It neither has life, nor any kind of soul.
It's what you do with it, that matters more.
How well you can use it, to make your life whole.
There is always a quid pro quo.
There is always that omnipresent trade off.
You need to juggle your priorities well,
So you can have that proverbial last laugh.
Because, all the money you earn,
Will not buy you a blazing sun.
A beautiful sunrise holds no solace,
To an impoverished and hungry one.
